First semester at Uni.

Posted by Tri-Nitro-Toluene Dec. 4, 2007 @ 1:40 PM EST

All I can say is this: HOLY SHIT!

Uni has been a bit mad. I've met loads of really cool people, made a couple of really good friends and have basically quadrupled my weekly intake of Alcohol. This is not a good thing as it's partly responsibly for me putting on stone in weight, though all the Mcdonalds I've been eating is the main culprit. Meh, what can I say, my flat is LITERALLY opposite a Mcdonalds, and when you come crawling back after a days worth of boring lectures on International relations and Classical political thought, a Big Mac Meal is a nice way to end the day.

The workload hasn't been too bad. Last few weeks have been a bit of rush as I had 4 essays to write: One on the French revolution, One on pluralism, A critique of Plato and an article review to do with Europe after the cold war. I've done the first 3, still got the review to do...which involves lots of work and has to be in by Monday = (

For those of you who read my last post from way back in October ( so shoot me, I have betetr things to do than keep a blog that few people read up to date = ) ) I was trying to work out what I was gonna do about a gal I liked, who was turning into quite a good friend. Long story short, ended up with me eventually about to ask her out, only to have a very awkward moment where she got a text message and then said ' Hang on a sec, that's probably my boyfriend'. ever had one of those moments where time jsut stops, your stomach drops and you just stare into infinity for what seems like forever? You have? Then you know exactly how I felt. So yeah, still single, though I MAY have a date coming up in the near future.

Yeah...that's about it really...oh, one last thing. The War of the Spanish Succession is the most boring war EVER. Especially the parts involving the navy. Never study it if you get the chance to. However, should you get the chance to study Plato, take it up and rip the fascist bastard to shreds and throw in an extra criticism for me.

I break up in a few weeks time. If I remember, I'll make a post about my drunken holiday exploits = )

I should probably update this more regularly lol.

But yeah, since my last news post I've moved out of home and started university doing a History and politics joint honours degree. It's quite an experience to say the least.

I moved in almost a month ago now, met my flat mates who are all alright I suppose, no one I've really hit it off with big time though, and then the fun started. A group of 2nd years had been designated the ' welcoming committee' for my block of flats, and, like any uni student would do, they welcomed us with large quantities of alcohol. About 12 crates of Carling...joy = D However, with 600 students...it ran out quickly, so the evening descended into raiding other peoples flats for their alcohol. I nicked about a litre of cider and a 6 pack of beer from someone... needless to say that on top of the various alcopops and beer that was given me I was well and truly hammered to the point of the next morning being told about doing stuff I don't remember. Then of course it was freshers week which also involved lots of beer and such things.

Eventually lectures started and I met some people that I hit it off properly with. A nice pair of girls one of which is quite attractive. However I have ye to ask her out for 2 reasons:

1) I am a coward
2) Not sure if I should potentially ruin a budding friendship

Lectures are, for the most part, alright, although in all honesty some of them are boring as hell. My seminars however suck. Big time. I have lots of foreigners with heavy7 accents and boring people. My frst essay is due in on the 26th of October, and I haven't even decided what I'm writing about yet ( it's either Machiavelli or Witches ).

Fun : )

What a night...

Posted by Tri-Nitro-Toluene Aug. 28, 2007 @ 9:28 AM EDT

Hows this for an evening?

Whilst eating my dinner my mother got a phone call from a family friend asking if he and his daughter could bunk up at our house for the night as his wife had been taken into hospital. My mom says yes and he turns up on our doorstep with his daughter Charlotte.

He hasn't got any of his stuff as he had to leave it at the train station because some dogsbody wouldn't let him get it for some unknown and ungodly reason. So me and my mom go off with Glen ( that's the family mate) and pick up hi stuff from the train station, then rush over to Dudley road Hospital, get lost in the car park, rush inside to the ward where Glenn's wife is...and then wait...well i waited. My mom was in the car with baby Charlotte and Glenn was in the room with his wife making sure she was OK.

Whilst I was waiting a strange Phillpino man wearing a nurses uniform came up to me a number of times asking if I were ok. Normally this would be a good thing, however, due to him eyeing me funny, and the way he talked, I have come to the conclusion that he was indeed gay and was in some round about way trying to hit on me.

Eventually Glenn came out and we went back to the car, and drove home after getting lost in the car park AGAIN and having to make an illegal U-Turn to get out the car park and almost got caught by the cops.

I then woke up this morning to find I'd been put on baby minding duties and had to watch the kid whilst her dad sorted out her breakfast etc. She decided to chase after my pet cats, ran into the garden and almost fell down some steps. Luckily I managed to catch her just in time. She then spent the rest of the morning running round the house with me in close pursuit trying to stop her killing herself.

I got up at half eight. By Half ten I was falling asleep in my chair.

The strange thing is I find that I actually enjoyed the whole experience...go figure. * Shrugs*

World of Warcraft

Posted by Tri-Nitro-Toluene Jul. 22, 2007 @ 2:00 PM EDT

I'm sure you've all heard a lot about World of Warcraft, about its addictiveness, the horror stories of married couples stopping talking to each other in real life and only communicating in game. We've all heard them I should think.

Now, the other day I was bored, and i was talking to my mate, who was WoW, and he suggested I download the 10 day trial...and I did. After taking the piss to actually download ( it took over 14 hours O_o), I loaded it up, and had a go.

The game itself is good, though how anyone gets addicted to it is beyond me. It is nothing more than a semi - generic MMORPG with a more user friendly interface than most.

I have no idea why its considered to be addictive. Someone enlighten me please.
